Dr. Pugliese is the Lead Consultant for Clinical Research and Product Development and a technical member of the Board of Directors of Natural Helix Corporation.
After obtaining a B.Sc. Degree in Biology from Franklin and Marshall in 1953, Dr. Pugliese received his M.D. Degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1957. The following year, he entered private practice in Berks County, Pennsylvania where he practiced medicine for 22 years.
Since 1972, Dr. Pugliese has been engaged in the study of skin physiology and has made discoveries which have influenced the course of professional skin care around the globe. As a physician, his expertise in cellular biology and biochemistry gives him a unique research vantage point for the development of new theapueutic opportunities and discoveries.
Dr. Pugliese did post graduate research at the Johnson Foundation of Biophysics and held academic positions at Hershey Medical School and the University of Pennsylvania. He conducted cancer research on the bioenergetics of cell division under a grant from the Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health and holds ten patents.
The most fascinating work of Dr. Pugliese’s research life has been the identification of tissue's cellular structure and with highly specialized technology, Dr. Pugliese has found a way to create never before seen views of a cell's biology. Tissue culture has remained a fascinating study for Dr. Pugliese and has formed the basis of many of the theories upon which future discoveries will be made.
Dr. Pugliese is a member of the Society of Bioengineering and the Skin, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society of Investigative Dermatology and he has delivered more than 125 presentations at scientific meetings worldwide. He was awarded the Maison de Navarre Gold Medal, the highest honor of the National Society of Cosmetic Chemists for his contributions to the field of cosmetic chemistry. Dr. Pugliese has written four books and contributed chapters to over a dozen books and published over 60 scientific papers.
